Prolonged sitting, wrong posture, lack of exercise, lifting heavy weights, stress, injuries, and aging gradually weaken the spine and discs.
Spine disorders arise when the discs, vertebrae, or nerves undergo degeneration or compression, leading to pain, stiffness, and restricted movement.
Disc Bulge: The soft cushion between vertebrae swells outward and compresses nerve roots, causing pain and numbness.
Disc Degeneration: Loss of hydration and elasticity of discs leading to stiffness and chronic pain.
Spondylosis: Degenerative changes in vertebrae and joints causing stiffness and nerve irritation.
Spondylolisthesis: Slipping of one vertebra over another causing instability and nerve compression.
Spine disorders are mainly caused by aggravated Vata Dosha. Ayurveda restores balance through Vata-pacifying therapies, nourishment of bones and nerves, and regeneration of tissues.
Maintain correct posture, avoid prolonged sitting, keep the back warm, manage stress, and practice Bhujangasana, Makarasana, Cat–Cow, and deep breathing.
